Ron Maxwell's Advice to Tutors
At the 2011 National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing held in Miami, Florida, Jon Olson shared a video clip of the late Ron Maxwell's advice to peer tutors. Jon kindly sent the video clip to PeerCentered:
PeerCentered is a space for peer writing tutors/consultants or anyone interested in collaborative learning in writing centers to blog with their colleagues from around the world. Bloggers here will share their ideas, experiences, or insight. To contribute to the blog, please contact Clint.Gardner@slcc.edu.
I really appreciated this piece of advice. I agree that respect should always be the first thing a tutor gives a writer. Respect them as a writer, yes, but also as a student and a person.
